Travelling around Urla with children by VIP car

A checklist for a comfortable family journey in Urla, covering child seats, breaks and luggage.

Published: 5 min readKıyı Ege Editorial Team

Coming to Urla with children takes different planning from coming with adults. Nap times, feeding breaks, the pushchair and the dozens of small bags you carry set the rhythm of the journey. A chauffeur-driven car makes it easier to fit that rhythm, but for that you need to give the right information at the quote stage. This guide is written for guests who come to Urla as a family or travel around Urla.

What to clarify before requesting a quote

The driver and vehicle plan are shaped by a few simple facts. It is enough to add the following to your booking message:

  • How many adults and how many children, and the children’s ages
  • Whether you need a child seat or booster; how many and for which age group
  • Luggage items such as a pushchair, travel cot, suitcases and toy bags
  • Your flight number (if you are arriving from the airport) and the area where you are staying
  • Whether you would like a break or a shop stop during the journey

The price is sent in writing via WhatsApp before the journey; your booking is confirmed once you approve the quote. Always state a child seat request at the quote stage; availability is confirmed and should not be assumed until it is.

Child seats and safety

The age, height and weight rules for child seats are updated from time to time. For that reason we do not quote figures here; check the current rules with official sources and choose the seat type that suits your child accordingly. If you would like to bring your own seat, say so as well, so that the seating layout of the car can be planned around it.

For small groups the Mercedes-Benz Vito VIP class is usually enough; it is designed for approximately 1–6 passengers. However, the seating layout may change once child seats and luggage are considered together. Exact capacity and equipment are confirmed in the quote.

Luggage and pushchair arrangements

Families with children are often limited more by luggage volume than by the number of adults. A folding pushchair, two suitcases and a few backpacks may fit in the same car, but four child seats, a large pram and six suitcases are another calculation. Writing the luggage list at the start ensures the right vehicle is chosen.

We recommend putting the things you will need during the day (water, wet wipes, spare clothes, a blanket) in a bag close to the cabin rather than in the boot. That way the driver does not have to open the boot at each stop.

Route rhythm by age

Distances in Urla look short, but with children every stop takes a little longer. A general framework:

  • Babies and non-walkers: Plan one main stop and one short break rather than a long route. A journey that coincides with nap time is when the baby will be most comfortable.
  • Pre-schoolers: Short, active stops such as the pier and a seafront walk work well. Getting back into the car after each stop acts as a rest.
  • Primary-school age: A variety of stops keeps their interest alive, such as seeing Quarantine Island (Karantina Adası) from a distance, a short walk among the olive groves and an ice cream break.
  • Teenagers: Art Street (Sanat Sokağı) and the quiet corners around Kuşçular usually appeal to them too.

A sample family day

The flow below is only an example; all times are approximate and vary with traffic.

Time of dayStopNote
MorningLeave the accommodation, Urla centreAfter breakfast, while the children are fresh
Before noonPier and seafrontShort walk, play in the open air
MiddayA relaxed lunch breakAccording to the children’s hunger
AfternoonRest in the car, returnNap time may coincide with the driver’s route
Late afternoonA short stop for sunsetReturn before it gets cold

The rule that helps most on a family outing is not to fill the programme. Choosing two stops instead of three often makes the day more enjoyable.

For families arriving from the airport

The road from Izmir Adnan Menderes Airport to Urla is approximately 60 km, and the time, while varying with traffic, is approximately 50–70 minutes. For children, this time may coincide with sleep. If you share your flight number, the meet and greet is planned around your landing time; the meeting point and the driver’s contact details are shared with the booking confirmation. For more information, you can read the guide to getting from Izmir Airport to Urla.

Small ways to keep children entertained on the road

In a chauffeur-driven car, no one has the stress of sitting behind the wheel, which leaves parents free to look after the children. Even so, a few preparations make the journey noticeably easier:

  • Put quiet entertainers such as a tablet or books in an easily reached bag.
  • Choose snacks that do not leave crumbs and carry them in small containers.
  • For children prone to travel sickness, avoid a heavy meal just before the journey; tell the driver in advance if needed.
  • For a child asleep in the car, you can ask for a calm route on the way back.

Village roads and coastal roads can be winding. If your child is sensitive to travel, adding this to your booking message makes it easier for the driver to adjust the driving pace.

Departure day and the trip to the airport

The hardest moment for families is departure day. When suitcases, last-minute shopping and sleepy children come together, the timing can slip. Plan the trip to the airport leaving a comfortable margin before your flight; the road from Urla to Adnan Menderes Airport takes approximately 50–70 minutes and varies with traffic. Taking the road unhurried when travelling with children also leaves time for formalities at the airport.

Do not forget to state the child seat request separately for the outbound and return journeys. Saying that the same seat is needed in both directions ensures the quote is prepared completely.
