Getting from Izmir Adnan Menderes Airport to Urla: your options

Private transfer, taxi, hire car and public transport: which suits which traveller?

Urla is approximately 60 kilometres from Izmir Adnan Menderes Airport (ADB), and the journey mostly follows the ring road and the Izmir–Çeşme motorway. Below we compare the four main ways of getting there in terms of journey time, comfort, luggage and cost predictability.

The short answer

If you have a lot of luggage, are travelling with a group or children, or land late in the evening, a private chauffeur-driven transfer is the least stressful option. If you are travelling alone with light luggage and a flexible schedule, public transport is the budget-friendly choice, although it involves changes.

1. Private chauffeur-driven transfer

The vehicle, time and fare are agreed before the journey. Your driver meets you at the airport and takes you straight to your address in Urla. If you share your flight number, the pick-up is planned around your landing time.

  • Advantage: Door to door, no changes, a vehicle suited to your party and luggage.
  • Note: It needs to be requested and confirmed in advance; availability may change for last-minute requests.

2. Taxi

You can take a taxi from the airport rank directly to Urla. The fare is based on the meter and may vary with road and traffic conditions.

  • Advantage: No booking needed.
  • Note: Vehicle size can be limiting for large groups and lots of luggage.

3. Hiring a car

You can pick up a car from the rental desks at the airport and drive yourself. This makes sense if you will want a car throughout your holiday.

  • Advantage: Freedom to move around during your stay.
  • Note: Pick-up formalities can take time, and driving is not appropriate if you plan to taste wine at the vineyards.

4. Public transport

You can take the rail system or a bus from the airport to the city centre, then change to a bus heading towards Urla. Check current lines and timetables on ESHOT’s official channels.

  • Advantage: The most economical option.
  • Note: Several changes, difficult with luggage, and limited services late in the evening.

What to include in a transfer request

  • The exact address or location in Urla
  • Whether you would like a return transfer
