A guide to private transfers from Urla to Çeşme and Alaçatı

A practical guide to journey times, timing and vehicle choice on the Urla–Çeşme–Alaçatı run.

Urla sits in the middle of the Izmir peninsula, so both Çeşme and Alaçatı are relatively close. Many visitors choose to stay in Urla and spend their days elsewhere on the peninsula. This article explains how to plan those crossings comfortably with a private car.

Distance and journey time

The journey from Urla to Alaçatı takes approximately 30–40 minutes, and to Çeşme approximately 40–50 minutes. These times vary with traffic; on summer weekends, especially in the afternoon and early evening, the Çeşme direction can get busy. It is wise to leave at least half an hour of extra margin when planning.

Along the way, the roads around Özbek, Çeşmealtı and Alaçatı each have a character of their own. You do not have to take the same route back; you can talk to your driver and choose a different stretch of coast.

Which time of day?

  • Early morning: the road is clear and the Alaçatı bazaar is still quiet
  • Midday: traffic and heat build up
  • Late afternoon: the return traffic out of Çeşme can thicken
  • Night: traffic depends on when concerts and events finish

In the summer season the easiest pattern is to set off early, spend the day in Alaçatı and return to Urla in the cool of the evening. In other months you can be more flexible.

One-way or all day?

A one-way transfer, for example from your hotel in Urla to a drop-off point in Çeşme, is quick and simple. An all-day plan gives more freedom: the driver drops you off, you wander the Alaçatı bazaar or spend time by the sea, and you return to your car at the time you have agreed. For a full-day programme, chauffeur service may suit better; for a single journey, Urla VIP transfer may be the right fit.

Choosing a vehicle

For two or three people, a Mercedes-Benz Vito VIP is usually enough. For larger families or groups of friends, we assess according to the number of passengers and bags. For ten or more people, the Sprinter comes into play. Exact capacity and equipment are confirmed in the quote.

Combining with an airport arrival

If your journey begins at the airport, for example if you are travelling from Adnan Menderes Airport (ADB) through Urla to Çeşme, share your flight number. The meet and greet is planned around your landing time. The airport–Urla leg is about 60 km and takes 50–70 minutes; build this into your plan for the rest of the peninsula.

A few tips to make the plan easier

  1. Decide your outbound and return times in advance
  2. Remember that vehicle access to the Alaçatı bazaar may be restricted; talk to your driver about the drop-off point
  3. If you are planning a beach day, mention luggage and children’s items beforehand
  4. Check wind and weather conditions the day before
  5. If you have booked a dinner table, leave some time margin

Stops along the peninsula

On the way from Urla to Alaçatı you may pass through settlements such as Çeşmealtı and Özbek. If you like, you can stop in these areas for a short coffee or seaside break; if your plan includes a stop, tell your driver at the start. In Çeşme the harbour, the castle and the beach side lie in different directions, so deciding in advance which you want to see helps to fix the drop-off point.

Late-night returns

If you plan to return to Urla after dinner or an event, give an approximate return time. The road can be clearer at night, but there may be short-lived congestion as events let out. For late pick-ups, make sure the meeting point is clear and well lit. At the end of a long evening, being able to head back to your home or hotel without a thought for driver fatigue is one of the most valuable things about chauffeur-driven transport.

During public holidays and busy periods

During religious holidays, midsummer and long weekends, movement on the peninsula rises markedly. In these periods even a one-way journey can take longer than expected. Confirm your plan with the driver the day before and book as early as you can. Early mornings and late evenings are usually smoother even in busy periods. Because it is hard to predict how busy things will be, always treat the time estimates as a general guide.

The most important thing on a peninsula outing is that everyone comes home rested at the end of the day. So leave the last hour free. It protects you both against unexpected traffic delays and against the time on the beach or in the bazaar running over. In a flexible plan, watching the sunset in Çeşme or taking an extra break in Alaçatı can be a natural part of the day. We recommend this approach for an unhurried, sensible but comfortable day. Especially for families with children and first-time visitors, this flexibility directly improves the quality of the day; even one short extra stop does a holiday good.
